Does Homegoods have Wheelchairs?
The store does not have any wheelchair accessible features or stock for the disabled.
The parent companies of several major store chains do not have wheelchair accessible stores, which seems quite problematic in the 2020s.
Homegoods
In 1992, TJX Companies and AJWright founded Homegoods, a United States-based furniture company. Homegoods is headquartered at Framingham, Massachusetts, United States and sells furniture as well as other products to turn your house into a home. Some of the products that Homegoods sells are cooking supplies, linens, home decorations, jars, vases, art supplies and more.
Types of Wheelchairs
There are many different types of wheelchairs depending on your needs. Some of them are listed below: -A manual wheelchair is a chair that you push yourself around with your hands. -An electric wheelchair is a chair that you power with batteries. -A scooter wheelchair is a chair that has two or four wheels and is pushed by the person using it. -A tilt-wheelchair allows people to move around in a sitting or reclining position. ..
There are a variety of wheelchairs to choose from, depending on your needs. Some have back and foot supports, while others have armrests or reclining seats. There are also bariatric wheelchairs for people who are overweight or have a disability that makes it difficult to roll themselves about. And finally, there are mechanical wheelchairs which are completely independent and do not require any upper body strength to operate. ..
The store chain has a lack of wheelchair options, despite the number of different types available. This is shameful.
Wheelchair Price Point
Wheelchairs can range in price from $100 to $1500. The cheapest wheelchair option is the “Drive Medical Silver Sport 1 Wheelchair with Full Arms and Swing away Removable Footrest 18 inch” which costs $109.29 at Walgreens stores and website. Health insurance may partially or completely cover the cost of a wheelchair, depending on your insurance company. ..
- Homegoods is a major retailer in the United States.
- Wheelchairs are a major product category for Homegoods.
- It is surprising that Homegoods does not have more wheelchair-accessible locations. ..
What should Homegoods do?
Homegoods prides itself on providing its customers with a life filled with comfort and quality. Disability acceptance is a part of life. If they can sell chairs, they should not hesitate in selling wheelchairs either. And not only should they have a few Wheelchairs on standby for purchase, but they should also be keeping wheelchairs in stock for the common people to use while they shop at their sites. Elderly people, people possessing injuries, etc. may not be inclined to walk for hours while shopping at Homegoods, so it is in their own self interest to provide their customers with the best service possible. ..
The problem with the Homegoods store chain may be that they do not have wheelchair rentals, which could be a problem for those who need them.
It is unacceptable for a large store chain like Homegoods to not be inclusive of people of all ages and from all walks of life. And not only is Homegoods responsible for this incompetence but also their parent company. TJX Companies and AJWright need to wake up and take responsibility and open their eyes to the fact that America is made up of a variety of different people and a vast majority of them may need walking aid while doing something as simple as shopping for their homes. ..
Homegoods should strive to do better in order to accommodate everyone. Hopefully, one day they will realize their faults and make the necessary changes. ..
